Very insightful! I was curious to find other things that were significant with the number 7:

There are also 7 wonders of the world, 7 players in ultimate frisbee, 7 is the magical number in Harry Potter, references to it in Lord of the Rings, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, and of course James Bond's number, 007. 7 is also peculiar number in mathematics.

In the Bible the seven loaves of bread turn into 7 baskets of bread, and 7 is also a reoccurring number in book of Revelation (so the world began in 7 days and things happening in sets of 7 (thunder, churches, seals, plagues, stars) will supposedly be a sign of the earth's end).

I read the Tipping Point and thought it was very thought provoking not only in regards to 7 but how the social epidemics start.

Meg, thanks for the comment. The Bible says that seven is the number of perfection. It took God six days to create the world (plus a seventh for rest). Every seventh year was to be a sabbath year (allowing the land to rest). Then, every seventh times seven years was to be an extra sabbath year (Jubilee). Two years in which the land rested, and the people rested in God.

Isaiah 42 gives us seven things Messiah will not do. He will not: cry out, lift up, cause his voice to be heard in the street, break a bruised reed, quench a smoking flax, fail, or be discouraged.

Good stuff!
